Insider’s Scoop Backstage at Electric Daisy Carnival

By Edward Ma

more EDCLast month, I had the amazing opportunity to attend Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) in New York with my classmate Kim Barbosa as Heavy Rotation Records (BPMI) representatives for our artist Glow Team. Heavy Rotations Records is an on-campus record label that signs a select group of Berklee artists each year and helps the signed artists build a solid fanbase until festival season. I learned so much about the live concert industry from working as the point person for Glow Team at EDC, and I’ll be giving the insider scoop on how logistics run in an event as such!

Last Friday, March 15, Berklee hosted our eighth annual SXSW Day Party, and our first at an outdoor SXSW venue, Brush Square Park. It was a great day for the Berklee community, and for music in general, with student and alumni bands from all around the country, and 1,000 attendees including alumni, press, fans, and new faces. The party was the culmination of the efforts of Heavy Rotation Records (our student-run label), Berkleemusic (our online school), The Red Room at Cafe 939, and Berklee Alumni Affairs, and was broadcast live on TuneIn Radio by Presskit.to and Backbone Radio Networks to more than 6,500 listeners worldwide.

Below, check out some of the day’s highlights in pictures (see the full gallery here.) Photos by Treebeard Media and PrettyInstant.com.
