Back from SXSW in Austin, where Berklee hosted three (!!) events this year. While I’m 90% recovered, my hearing may take longer to come back… I saw 40 bands in 4 days! including twelve alumni and student bands that played at Berklee’s parties, and two more – Pink Nasty and Royal Forest – who were among the dozens of alumni bands performing at shows and parties around austin last week.

We had a great turnout at both shows (and at the BBQ at Trustee David Clem’s beautiful ranch) and all the bands kicked! Magen has posted video clips of many of the sets on Berklee’s YouTube Channel, including Audible Mainframe, The Young Republic, Jordan Tarrant, Melissa Ferrick, Shayna Zaid & the Catch, and more.

Here are a few photos:

Melissa Ferrick at Lucky Lounge:

That guitar better watch out!

Jordan Tarrant at Lucky Lounge:

Jordan Tarrant dons pedal steel player Tommy Bohlen's sunglasses for a song titled, appropriately enough, "Sunglasses."

Audible Mainframe at Friends:

Hip hop group Audible Mainframe rocked a killer version of The Clash's "Magnificent Seven."

Photos of all of the Lucky Lounge bands (and some of the Friends bands) are posted on Berklee’s Flickr page, SXSW 2010 set. I was only able to take a few photos at Friends myself due to the insanity of the show. Thankfully, pro photographer Kelly Davidson was there to capture it all. A photo gallery of Berklee’s SXSW events is up now at
