Tuesday, April 3rd was an exciting night for Berklee City Music as six City Music High School Academy students sang our nations anthem to fans at the TD Garden in downtown Boston. While the Celtics geared up to take on the San Antonio Spurs,  Wendy Chung, Ava Dudani, Rachel McLean, Elideusa Gomes-Almeida, Rebecca Demmellash and Grace Mann brought 19,000 spectators to a rousing cheer with their rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner. 

Also at center court Klare Shaw, Special Adviser to the Superintendent of the Boston Public Schools, received the ‘Hero Among Us’ award in recognition of her commitment to education and more than 20 years of service in public and private grant making.

Berklee City Music was the star of the halftime show when president Roger H. Brown was joined by J. Curtis Warner, Jr., Associate Vice President for Education Outreach and Executive Director of Berklee City Music and Dr. Krystal Prime Banfield, Dean of Berklee City Music,  in receiving a $50,000 contribution from the Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation. The funds was presented by John Connaughton, managing director at Bain Capital, and an enthusiastic member of the Board of Trustees at Berklee College of Music. An avid music lover, Connaughton describes the excitement and energy of Berklee as “infectious”.
