Juan & Alejandro Sanz1Honestly, I couldn’t  believe when I first saw the e-mail from Javier Limón inviting me to go to Las Vegas to play with Alejandro Sanz in the 14th Latin Grammy Awards. But the funny thing is that now that we already did it, I still can’t believe seeing myself playing in the stage, with all these great musicians and with Alejandro leading the band. Heroes Among Us!

J. Curtis Warner Jr. accepting the "Heroes Among Us" Award from the Boston Celtics

On the night of Wednesday March 10th, Berklee City Music showed up at the TD Banknorth Garden to take home a W!

At half time, the Boston Celtics honored Berklee’s own Associate Vice President for Education Outreach J. Curtis Warner Jr. with the Heroes Among us Award.

Established as an initiative of the Boston Celtics in 1997, Heroes Among Us honors individuals who have made an overwhelming impact on the lives of others.

Curtis received this award in recognition of his groundbreaking work establishing the Berklee City Music Network, Berklee’s Education Outreach initiative:

Berklee City Music is a nonprofit education program that harnesses the energy of contemporary music to reach underserved 4th to 12th graders all across the country. Students dedicate themselves to building their musical talent, their self-confidence and, in the long run, the strength of their community.

In addition, the Boston Celtics’ Shamrock Foundation gave a generous gift to Berklee City Music Programs. Both Curtis and Berklee City Music Director, Dr. Krystal Banfield, accepted the gift at half time.
