Artists Galore! – Rafael Restrepo, Blue Mics – Internship Series (Part 4)

Salute fellow Bloggers!

It’s me once again and this time I promise I will try to be brief. I’m just so excited to tell you about my great internship experience here at Blue Microphones. Well, this time there is not going to be any life lessons or morals to my narration. Just wanted to share with you the amazing experiences and encounters I had with visitors at Blue studios.

The week of Feb 28th was extremely fun and busy here at Blue. We had artist visits almost every day. These ranged from established bands such as Hello Goodbye, to up and coming ones like The Yes Team. We also had well known engineers like Tony Maserati, composers/producers like David Das, to artsy musician, painter and poet Joseph Arthur. Enough with name-dropping, let’s get down to more details.

Rafael Restrepo, Blue Mics – Internship Series (Part 3)

Hello Dear Berklee blog readers,

Are you ready for more internship action?

Prepare yourselves to be submerged in my Blue Mics world for the next couple hundred words. The past two weeks were a lot of fun at the studio. We’ve covered everything at an internship you can imagine. During the past 14 days I came up with my own mantra: “Be humble, give your best. You just never know.” You will understand what I mean by the end of this post. Without further ado, let’s get to the details.

If you’ve read my previous blogs (Part 1 & Part 2), you know I do a lot of stuff at Blue. I am in charge of running the studio, engineering sessions for our Blue artists (www.bluemic.com/bluemob), getting coffee, meeting and greeting artists, managing the studio inventory, creating content for social media marketing, buying lunch, cleaning up after the artists, etc. Some of my internship duties are significant and fun. Others, not so much. However, any single task I perform in the studio at the company, I give my best. I tell myself: “Be humble, give your best. You never know”.  (You see? I told you this was coming up.)

Rafael Restrepo, Blue Mics – Internship Series (Part 2)

Hello Dear Readers,

This is the second stop of our internship journey, a learning experience that is going to take us on an intensive trip for the next three months. (Check out my first entry here).

Here I am almost into the 4th week of my internship. Unbelievable. Time definitely flies by when you are enjoying something, doesn’t it?

I am in the phase of an internship where I’m starting to know what to expect from my position within the company. I kind of know my responsibilities, daily tasks, my boss and co-workers, etc. but I can’t rely on this pre-mature judgment because it is too early in the process. I don’t know everything and I don’t want to mess up. So, everyday I work harder and harder to learn deeper and perform a better job so that the first impression I established (hopefully a good one) stays true and strong.

I want to call this point of the learning curve the “Initial Transition.” Yes, it’s your first learning transition.
