今回は先日2/24にBPCにて行われた”Sing Song with Bobby McFerrin”と題された一大イベント、現在Berkleeに特別滞在して教鞭をとっているあのBobby McFerrinと、Berkleeの教授でBobbyの盟友であるJoey Blake、そしてそのVocalアンサンブルの生徒達による「声だけのコンサート」の模様をレポートしたいと思います。
James Taylorが来たときもしかり、ヴォーカリスト関連のイベント時は毎度のことなのですが、BPCの周り1/4周ぶん行列が、、、！
Berklee came out in force for alumni band Annie and the Beekeepers CMJ Showcase last night at the Living Room. Magen and I were there, as were students and alumni Nathan Reich, and members of Sex!, and Nini & Ben, who, not coincidentally, happen to all be playing Berklee’s CMJ Showcase tomorrow (1-5 at Bowery Poetry Club, plug, plug)…
It’s relatively quiet here in Boston as the summer semester settles in… though it’s 52 degrees today… because many students have left town. And many take advantage of the warm season to TOUR!
Luckily, we get to follow some of them here. Singer/songwriter Liz Longley will cover her experiences on the folk circuit, several bands will report from jazz festivals, and mandolinist Eric Robertson will blog bluegrass. Along the way, we expect to hear about huge crowds, leaky tents, and late-night brushes (jam sessions) with stardom.
She’s shared the stage with Nanci Griffith, Kenny Rankin, Lucy Kaplansky, Livingston Taylor, and Jonathan Edwards. Now she’ll take the spotlight at D.C.’s grandest music venue.
On Thursday, May 21, student singer/songwriter Liz Longley performs as part of the John F. Kennedy Center‘s Conservatory Project.
