By contemplating science
as an autobiographical inward journey
that satisfies our cognitive needs and intellectual desires
we are able to understand
it is us who named the stars
Influenced by Kantian philosophy, Proem describes the endeavor to find an objective reality using scientific research. As observers, we find our own versions of this reality and categorize them as objective external stimuli; however, the information we are able to grasp is conditioned by our cognition capabilities. What is synthesized from observation is really a reflection of our own minds. Proem is segmented in three chapters that stand for the scientific realms of Physics, Biology and Psychology where the chronological order in which they are exhibited represent an inward cognitive direction. Respectively, these chapters represent the study of the world around us, the study of how we fit in it, and the study of how it is a part of us. Proem guides us from a simple cognitive state to a state of cognitive complexity that culminates in introspection.
Proem will be exhibited from the 30th of April until the 30th of June at the Galeria GNRation in Braga, Portugal. You can find more information here.
