Valencia Film Orchestra is the result of a dream. A dream shared by Fernando Furones (principal conductor) and Elaine Lizardo (artistic director), both Film Scoring students at Berklee College of Music in Boston. Together, they have devoted themselves to this project ever since they arrived in Valencia last January.
After reaching out to as many people as possible, they succeeded in creating the first soundtrack orchestra based in Valencia. They got the support from Berklee’s campus in Valencia and Fundación FUVANE, a charity focused on providing help to children with mental paralysis.
Currently boasting an astonishing 65 musicians, the orchestra includes some of the most talented musicians of Valencia (Spain) and 13 other countries. Additionally, there are 20 other volunteers who are helping with logistics and planning.
The orchestra will make its debut in the Palau de la Música, a beautiful 1,700-seat music hall where the Orchestra of Valencia normally performs. The concert will take place on April 30th at 12:00. All the earnings will go to Fundación FUVANE.
After months of careful planning and preparation, they successfully held their first rehearsal last Wednesday, in Sala D of Palau de les Arts. All musicians that took part in it felt it was an amazing experience, and although there is still a lot of work to do, the excitement and sense of anticipation is deeply palpable already. This will unquestionably be a very special event, one that will be hard to forget for everyone involved.
