This month local musicians, artists, and athletes will fly to San Bartolo in Peru (with St. Joseph’s Parish of Wakefield) to teach orphans music and math, and help them rebuild a village chapel. In an effort to raise funds for the trip, bands from the Boston area came to together at the Marconi club in Stoneham for a benefit show.
Kicking off the night was “Lost in Boston”, a band splitting their set with well-known covers (from the likes of Pink Floyd to Paul Simon), and folky, groovy originals off their new album “Retrograde”. To follow was “Meats n’ Snacks” – a new folk duo out of Somerville, doing mostly covers (featuring a notable Patsy Cline cover of “Lovesick Blues”) and two originals.
Up next was Hunter S. Floortom – a trio of musicians who were switching instruments after each song in the set (instruments including bass, acoustic guitar, drums, Rhodes piano, etc). Playing mostly originals, they also touched on some Strokes and Beck before they were through.

After Hunter S. cleared away, the lights dropped and Brainexploder took the stage. Playing a keyboard and twisting a slew of knobs and dials, he put a slight twist on the night with a Visual/Audial set.
