Michael and Sally tackle the sand pile.
Today we learned the meaning of “sweat equity”… or at least we learned about sweat! Our task today was the landscaping on a nearly finished house. We began the day with a dilapidated yard full of concrete chunks, plus a large pile of sand and a pallet of sod. By the end of the day we had a beautifully manicured lawn, and a foundation of sand under the house. In between there was a lot of digging, a lot of raking, a lot of crawling around in tight places…. and a lot of sweat. We’re grateful that the weather has been relatively kind so far. We even get a breeze now and then!
There is something marvelously zen about moving dirt around all day. Then you get to the end of the day, and your whole body aches, and the dirt pile has miraculously disappeared. And you know you have accomplished something!
We filled in the foundation under the house, so it won't flood and attract mosquitoes.
