Wow, wasn’t I just here?  Yep, I was.  Three weeks ago, we were in DC at the Kennedy Center with the esteemed Liz Longley, her achingly beautiful songs, and her achingly beautiful band.  Now I’m back, with five jazz players, set to do a radio broadcast, and play four shows.

The Roy Guzman Quintet will be all over Washington and the airwaves the next few days, as part of the Duke Ellington Jazz Festival

Kennedy Center wrap up…

Hey y’all!

(Yes… I’m from PA but I’m currently in Texas so the y’all thing is working at the moment!)  🙂

The Berklee trip to DC was a total success!!  What an honor to be a part of the Conservatory Project at the Kennedy Center.  I am so grateful for the Berklee faculty for putting such a great trip together.

On Thursday afternoon, Johnny, Rob Hayes and I went to the Voice of America.  It was soooo cool.  Doug Levine hosts his own radio show and invited us in for an interview.  Johnny and I really enjoyed talking with him.  That was our first time ON AIR together. 🙂  The interview is going to be translated into several different languages and broadcasted across the world.  How exciting is that?!

Kennedy Center gig

Hey everybody!

My name is Johnny Duke.  I am an eighth semester professional musica major at Berklee and the guitarist in Liz Longley’s band.

Last night was a blast!  We played an hour long set at the Kennedy Center for about 300 people.  I want to thank everybody at Berklee and the Kennedy Center who made this trip possible, especially Rob Hayes.  It is a thrill for Derek, Jake and I to be playing behind Liz’s beautifully crafted music.  We’ll be playing a lot this summer.  Hope to see you on the road!
